20 Years later

Is there a limit to how many times a girly can hit delete? Will anyone really know that I re wrote this far too many times over the last week? Simply wanting to capture this perfectly because this deserves more than just a passive scribble . Twenty years have flown by since 2006 … so many life altering events have taken place personally and on a global scale. It’s not just a celebration of a Record for one band it’s the start of freedom. The Applicators , an all Female Punk Band, have secured the rights to their music and have re release MY WEAPON under Cello Fame Records , new packaging and all . The DYI record label gives them the autonomy to do things that are specific to the identity of the band . I had the most amazing chit chat with Sabrina Worthington vocalist , gushing about how much I loved seeing them play early on with Girl in A Comma … how I had actually tried to sing “puke on you “ in my sixth grade talent show. To see and hear the passion she has , the whole band has 20 years later … just makes my heart sing . The message across from band to band that night was to continue to fight for each other , that our communities in the Punk world should be and are safe spaces. In my humble opinion the bands that took the stage The Applicators , TITS OUT, Las Hijas De Los Madres Wendy-0 Plasmatics Tribute band. Otto Erotica and the ASPHYXIATIONS as well as DJ EPSR , should be on everyone’s radar. I highly recommend seeing them at their next show !
